[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW]-Au matin du lundi 19 mars 2012, Mohamed Merah a attrapé par les cheveux Myriam Monsonego. Pendant des secondes qui ont été une éternité de souffrance pour la petite fille terrorisée, il l’a entraînée puis tuée d’une balle dans la tête. Ce faisant , il a {accompli un acte de résistance}. Comment ? L’on tique, l’on tousse, l’on trouve que c’est y aller trop fort ? L’on est scandalisé par le geste de l’enseignante qui a voulu faire observer une minute de silence à la mémoire de Mohamed Merah ?L’on observe que presque tout le monde « qui compte » en France et à l’étranger a condamné sans réserve cet acte horrifiant ? Et l’on a bien sûr raison. Mais la société civile peut elle s’en contenter, soulagée, sans s’interroger plus avant ? -Est-ce au fond si extraordinaire qu’un enfant perdu de la République ait assassiné trois militaires français désarmés, en situation de civils ? Tous trois étaient d’origine maghrébine. Saura-t-on un jour si c’est, comme cela a été dit, par hasard ou si Merah et ses éventuels complices ont ciblé des « traîtres » partis combattre les talibans ? -Est-ce si extraordinaire que, ne trouvant pas de soldat à assassiner ce lundi 19, sa cible de substitution naturelle ait été l’enfant juif, l’école juive ? L’enfant juif n’est-il pas désigné comme une cible légitime par plein de gens que le monde « qui compte » juge très largement fréquentables. L’appel à tuer LES Juifs, sans âge minimum, est récurrent dans le programme et les sermons des salafistes tunisiens que le pouvoir tunisien islamiste laisse, en toute impunité, pousser ses appels à la haine meurtrière..Il l’est, avec plus de dissimulation, dans celui des Frères Musulmans, avec lesquels beaucoup, y compris notre Ministre des Affaires Etrangères et l’administration américaine jugent pourtant le dialogue intéressant et prometteur. Il l’est dans la Charte du Hamas, branche palestinienne des Frères Musulmans, qui a revendiqué d’innombrables massacres d’enfants israéliens comme de glorieux actes de résistance accomplis par des « shahids ». Pas que lui. Les « Comités de Résistance populaire », les « Brigades des Martyrs d’Al Aqsah » liées au Fatah de Yasser Arafat, en ont fait autant.Hélas, la télévision de l’Autorité Palestinienne elle-même a diffusé récemment un sermon dans lequel le Mufti appelait au meurtre des Juifs. (1)-En quoi la boucherie terroriste de l’école juive de Toulouse est elle pire que le massacre en mai 2004 de la famille Hatuel à Gaza, une jeune mère enceinte et ses quatre filles âgées de 2 à 9 ans , revendiqué comme un haut fait d’armes par les mal nommés « comités de résistance populaire » palestiniens ? En quoi est-elle pire que le massacre d’Itamar (2) qui décima il y a un an la famille Fogel , les parents et trois de leurs enfants dont la plus jeune n’avait que trois mois ? Elle ne l’est pas : {c’est} Itamar à Toulouse.{{On me répondra que ce qui se passe en France nous touche bien plus et on aura mille fois raison.}} La nouvelle nous a littéralement fracassé-es et nous peinons à nous en remettre. -Mais il y a un problème que l’on ne peut taire. Il s’est trouvé des gens, BCBG et pas le moins du monde « issus de l’immigration » pour réagir en trouvant qu’on faisait tout un plat de ces enfants juifs – certes français mais aussi israéliens et enterrés en Israël – alors que les enfants de Gaza …. Points de suspension suggestifs. Faut-il s’étonner que Madame Ashton, lumière entre les lumières, ait cru devoir associer à la mémoire des enfants de Toulouse celle des enfants de Gaza, ces enfants que Mohamed Merah prétendait venger ? Les enfants de Gaza sont devenus les archétypes de la souffrance. {{Parlons des enfants de Gaza, justement. Avec une pensée triste et aimante pour les malheureux enfants de Gaza tués pendant la guerre de 2009.}} Je ne sais pas combien ils ont été et personne en France ne le sait en vérité, le Hamas dont on a systématiquement repris les chiffres à l’époque étant une source non-fiable. Mais laisser accroire que les soldats de l’armée israélienne ont {ciblé} ces enfants, comme l’ont fait Mohamed Merah et ses innombrables prédécesseurs terroristes, n’est pas honnête. Ces pauvres enfants ont été des victimes civiles d’une guerre, pas les cibles de cette guerre. -Osons une question : combien d’enfants libyens ont été tués involontairement par les bombardements de l’OTAN pendant l’intervention en Libye ? Aucun ? Voire. Tant mieux si c’était le cas. Mais que sait-on en vérité ? Quels chiffres ont été communiqués sur les victimes civiles de cette guerre ? Le sanglant dictateur Kadhafi avait fait état de beaucoup de victimes alors que son régime s’effondrait. {Propagande} a-t-on répondu et on a eu raison. On a expliqué qu’il utilisait sa population civile comme bouclier humain. Là encore on a eu raison. Mais qu’a fait le Hamas sinon utiliser sa population civile, enfants en tête, comme bouclier humain ? La grande différence est que sa propagande à lui a trouvé une caisse de résonance extraordinaire dans nos médias. -A simplifier à outrance un conflit excessivement complexe, on en est arrivé à substituer une mythologie à la réalité, des postulats aux analyses et de la propagande à l’information objective.Les effets en sont dévastateurs en termes de confusion.Si Stéphane Hessel, l’icône de la France, soutient le Hamas et lui accorde un brevet de résistance, ne devient-il pas envisageable de transposer en France les méthodes du Hamas ?Les humanistes se doivent de poser la question.{{Et maintenant ?}}- Le djihadisme a débarqué en France et la liquidation de Merah n’est en rien un épilogue.Notre affaire à nous, simples citoyennes et citoyens, ce n’est pas ces djihadistes.Ce n’est ni le renseignement ni la sécurité, qui incombent à l’Etat. {{Notre affaire à nous c’est la réaction de la société civile.}} -Est-elle à la hauteur des enjeux ? Pourquoi ne sommes-nous pas capables de faire ce que font les Marocains après les attentats : manifester avec un message clair, NON AU TERRORISME ?La recherche de la fraternité républicaine ne doit pas nous conduire à nous auto-censurer, bien au contraire. Lors de la marche appelée dès le soir du massacre du lundi 19 mars, tout le monde autour de moi, mes compagnons de combat antiraciste et jusqu’à un éminent avocat, était catégorique : l’assassin était un néo-nazi, la piste islamiste était im-po-ssible. Et de pointer la responsabilité des idées nauséabondes du FN, voire du gouvernement. Pourquoi ne procède-t-on pas de la même façon lorsque l’autre piste, la piste « impossible », a été confirmée ? Pourquoi nous prie-t-on d’éviter de parler d’islamisme, afin de ne pas stigmatiser ? {{Ce n’est pas cela qu’attendent de nous les démocrates du Moyen-Orient et du Maghreb, singulièrement celles et ceux qui résistent avec cran en Tunisie à l’offensive salafiste tolérée par Ennahda.}} Pointer la responsabilité de l’islamisme ou islam politique qui opprime et tue d’abord des Musulmans, permet justement de le distinguer de l’Islam spirituel et du respect du droit de culte garanti à tout citoyen. -La confusion est dangereuse. Illustration : On le sait, le Cheikh Youssef Qaradawi, figure de proue des Frères Musulmans avait été invité par l’UOIF à son rassemblement du 6 avril prochain. Quelques protestations après le choc de Toulouse et Nicolas Sarkozy a déclaré que Qaradawi n’était pas le bienvenu en France.Réaction édifiante d’un chercheur associé à l’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales : il s’étonne , ne comprend pas car pour lui Qaradawi est un modéré, défenseur de la cause palestinienne et de son droit à la résistance, qui s’est désolidarisé des mouvements djihadistes. (3)Le chercheur devrait chercher un peu plus. Car ce modéré là, auteur de l’ouvrage {Le licite et l’illicite dans l’Islam}, glorifia jadis les assassins de Sadate.Certes, il a condamné les attentats de Londres. Le moyen de faire autrement quand on veut acquérir une puissante autorité en Europe ! Mais il justifie les attentats « suicides » contre les civils israéliens de tout âge. Il a même autorisé par fatwa de « tuer les embryons juifs dans le ventre de leurs mères parce qu’une fois nés et devenus grands, ils deviendront des soldats de l’armée israélienne » (4)Alors, « la République unie » face au terrorisme ? The seconds that followed were an eternity of suffering for the terrified little girl whom he dragged along the ground and then murdered by means of a gunshot to the head. In doing this, Merah carried out an act of resistance. We are shocked by such a statement? We cough, we hesitate, we find this a bit exaggerated. We find it scandalous that a certain French schoolteacher asked her students to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the child-killer, Merah. We stress that almost everyone who matters in France unreservedly condemned his horrifying actions. And this, of course, is true and as it should be. But does this mean civil society has satisfied its obligations, and is thereby relieved of further self-examination? -Is it so extraordinary that one of the lost children of our republic murdered three unarmed French soldiers? All three were of North African origin. Were their deaths an accident? Or did Merah and his accomplices target them as ‘traitors’ on the assumption that they had fought the Taliban? Is it so extraordinary that – unable to find a soldier to murder on that Monday – he turned his attentions to the natural alternative: Jewish children, a Jewish school? Have not Jewish children been considered a legitimate target by many whom «those who matter in the world» judge as respectable? The call to murder Jews – with no minimum age – is a recurring theme in the broadcasts and sermons of the Tunisian Salafists. The Tunisian authorities remain silent in the face of this murderous hatred. A similar message, only slightly more disguised, also exists in the ranks of Egypt’s Moslem Brotherhood with which France’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United States administration are approving of «dialogue», regarding it as interesting and promising. It also exists in the Charter of Hamas, the Palestinian branch of the Moslem Brotherhood, and the party that claims responsibility for countless massacres of Israeli children – they praise such massacres as glorious acts of resistance. They are hardly alone. The Popular Resistance Committees and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, a unit of Yasser Arafat’s Fatah, among others, do the same. Appallingly, even the official television station of the Palestinian Authority recently broadcast a sermon by the PA-appointed Mufti of Jerusalem, Muhammad Hussein, calling for more killing of Jews. The mis-named Palestinian Popular Resistance Committees claimed this as one of its heroic military achievements! Is Toulouse worse than the massacre in Itamar a year ago in which the Fogel family was decimated: both parents and three of their five children, the youngest of whom was three months old? No, it is not worse. The reality is that Itamar is Toulouse. But we shall be told that what happens in France, by comparison with events far away, affects us to a much larger extent – and this is a thousand times right. The massacre in Toulouse has stunned us. We are still struggling to recover. But there is a problem here that cannot be swept under the rug.There are very «proper» people, not in the least of immigrant background, who found that we made too much of these Jewish children who, although French were also Israeli and buried in Israel, while the children of Gaza… suggestive suspension dots.Little wonder that Baroness Catherine Ashton, a luminary among luminaries, found it necessary to associate the memory of the murdered children of Toulouse with the children of Gaza whose blood Mohamed Merah claimed to be avenging. -The children of Gaza have been turned into archetypical victims. Do we even know? Were we given civilian casualty figures for that war? The blood-drenched dictator Gaddafi caused a great many casualties in the course of his regime’s collapse. Propaganda was the answer and that was correct. It was explained that he used his civilians as human shields. Again, that was correct. But then, what has Hamas done but use its civilian population, children first, as human shields? The difference is that the Hamas has achieved an extraordinary resonance in our media. -To oversimplify an extremely complex conflict led to mythology replacing reality; assumptions instead of analyses and propaganda instead of objective information. The devastating result is total confusion. If the French icon Stephane Hessel supports Hamas and gives it the title of resistance fighters, then is it not feasible to implement Hamas methods into France? This is something that humanists should question. -So now what? Jihadism has landed in France. Merah’s death is in no sense its epilogue. For us simple citizens, our concern is neither the jihadists, nor the instrumentalities of State intelligence nor security. Our concern is with the reaction of civil society. Is civil society up to this challenge? Why are we not able to do what the Moroccans did after the attacks? Articulate with a clear voice: NO TO TERRORISM. The will to defend French republican society should not lead us to self-censorship. On the contrary. During the march that took place on the evening of the massacre on Monday, March 19, everyone around me, my comrades in the struggle against racism as well as a prominent lawyer were categorical: the murderer was a neo-Nazi. The notion that he might be an Islamist was im-po-ssible. Responsibility might lie with the foul ideas of the National front, or even of the government. Why is our reaction not just as clear when the alternative view, the “impossible” theory, is confirmed? Why are we asked to avoid speaking of Islamic extremism, so as not to stigmatize Islam?This is not what democrats in North Africa and the Middle East expect from us, especially those in Tunisia courageously fighting the rise of the salafists tolerated by the Ennahda regime. Pointing to the responsibility of Islamism – political Islam – that oppresses and kills Muslims first of all, enables one to distinguish it from spiritual Islam and the right of worship guaranteed to all citizens. There is a dangerous confusion. To illustrate: We know that Sheikh Youssef Qaradawi, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, was invited to address a rally of the UOIF on April 6. Responding to the voices of protest after the Toulouse horror, Nicolas Sarkozy said Qaradawi was not welcome in France. The edifying reaction of a certain researcher associate of Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales was that he could not understand the ban. For him, Qaradawi is simply a moderate supporter of the Palestinian cause and of its right to resist, not in solidarity with jihadist movements.
